Camping at Dreher Island

We went camping near Columbia, SC at Dreher Island State Park.  Jamie's parents got a campsite for 2 weeks and we went down there for the weekend.  Sam had a great time at the campground, but he did not want to sleep at night and never wanted to take naps.  We were able to get him to take naps during walks, bike rides and even a ride on Papa's boat.  I went out on the lake one time on our Seadoo Jetski, I had a good time, but it is time to sell it; hard to put Sam on the Seadoo.

David, Kaylee and Abbey came down to the campground for one night and we had a good time with them as well.  I think we will definitely go camping more in the future, hopefully Sam won't fight sleeping so bad though.

We had fried bass and corn on the cob the first evening, Sam loved the corn and he ate some bass too.

Sam loved the boat ride, it tired him out.

Abbey caught a fish, she was so happy.

Remodeling

We are in the process of remodeling the screened porch.  The way the economy is going and the increase of gas, groceries, etc; it is cheaper to just add on to our house than move.  So we decided to convert the screened porch into sunroom/bonusroom.  Dad and I have been working on the remodel for about 3 weeks.  Jamie has been a huge help, especially when we poured all the concrete for the footings.  We had a lot of deconstruction to do before we started, so far we have the new walls framed and sheathed.  We are hoping to have the room done in mid June.  Sam wants to come out and help us; I look forward to when he is older and can help me on projects the way I helped my dad.

Looking out at the world

Since it has gotten warmer, Jamie and I will open the front door and Copper loves to sit and look out at the world.  Sam has discovered that Copper likes to sit there and he will come look out as well.  After a few seconds he gets bored or attention goes somewhere else, then he comes back again.  Since Sam is walking so well he like to discover everything.  Copper just likes to look out at the world and look for things in the front yard.  Sam just wants to discover everything and he can't discover it fast enough, he likes to be into everything; kind of like his daddy.

Celebrate Victor's Birthday

Sam's cousin Victor is 18 days younger than him and since Greg, Betsy and Victor came up we celebrated Victor's birthday early.

Birthday at the zoo

Jamie and I both took today off from work to spent time with Sam on his 1st birthday.  We met Greg, Betsy and Victor at the Greenville Zoo and then got a bite to eat at Jimmy Johns, great sub sandwiches.  We all enjoyed the animals at the zoo, Sam and Victor had a great time, I think they liked the monkeys the most.

Sam's Birthday Party

Today we had Sam's 1st birthday party at Fuddruckers.  We had many family and friends come and celebrate Sam's first birthday.  Sam got lots of gifts and is looking forward to playing with all of them.  We had an Elmo cake made for Sam, he loves Sesame Street and Elmo is his favorite.  Sam got a big piece of birthday cake and as you can see he really enjoyed it.
